IndyCar – Montagny hopes to do better with Andretti

Franck Montagny seems divided after the first free practice sessions for the Indianapolis Grand Prix. If the Frenchman returned to competition for the first time after two years off, he still has to find his bearings on the No. 12 DW26 fielded by Andretti Autosport. Even if the old pilot Peugeot Sport is aware that he has a competitive mount, he did not manage to distinguish himself at the front by only taking 22nd place at the end of the first day after having completed 33 laps on the infield which he already knows it having competed in the USA Grand Prix in 2006 with Super Aguri.

The 2003 World Series by Nissan champion hopes to improve his performance this weekend and move up to a better position in the hierarchy. “Being seven tenths behind after two years isn't too bad, but it's still not enough. We finished in 20th place (sic) and this is not a normal position for an Andretti car. I'm doing my best and I hope it will be better (today) after a night's rest. It's always a good thing to get back behind the wheel after a break which allows you to think about things. I hope the next day goes better because I'm a little disappointed. My car is satisfactory and I appreciate the work done, but I don't like seeing myself in 20th place (sic) on the screens. »
