IndyCar – Montoya gets back into the swing of things at Sebring

After seven seasons spent in Nascar, Juan-Pablo Montoya must find his bearings in a discipline where he has shone in the past. L'IndyCar has changed a lot since his title in 1999 and his victory at the Indianapolis 500, even the name is different, but the talent and reputation of the Colombian still seem intact. The new Team Penske recruit took the wheel of the DW12 alongside his teammate Will Power who was also taking part in the tests at Sebring International Raceway. “The most surprising thing is that everything still happens very quickly”, explained the former Chip Ganassi star. “It’s okay, but we end up making mistakes. With more time behind the wheel, everything will slow down and it will become easier. This has happened to me a few times already and I know that with time everything will get easier. »

His Australian teammate in any case does not seem to doubt the skills of Juan-Pablo Montoya who will return to the car after leaving the F1 in 2006. It must be said that the new recruit's track record is rather impressive since he has won seven times in the Grand Prix, including that of Monaco in 2003. “You don't win poles and races in F1, as well as the CART Series on your first try if you're slow. I actually expected to learn from him. He already brought some good ideas to the team before he even got in the car. From what I saw with the data, his driving style is very similar to mine, whether it's his braking or the rest. This should be a good point for fine-tuning our settings. »
