IndyCar – Montoya had fun at Indy 500

Juan-Pablo Montoya signed his second victory at the 5Indianapolis 00 15 years after his first success. The pilot of the Team Penske showed great combativeness to return to the front after a start to the race where he had to return to the pits under safety car regime after contact with Simona de Silvestro (Andretti Autosport).

“There was a lot of work to do”, commented the 1999 Champ Car World Series champion. “The incident that happened with Simona is typical of what can happen when you qualify poorly (15th). We find ourselves in the wrong car. We continued to add downforce and adjust the car. I had trouble keeping up with the first 8 after the first interruption. »

Juan-Pablo Montoya was able to improve his performance throughout the race to join the fight for victory with his teammate Will Power and Scott Dixon (Ganassi Racing). “The last 15 laps are decisive. It was a fun race, probably the best. We have a lot of respect for each other between Will and Dixon. We understand the risks. It made the race enjoyable”, underlined the former pilot McLaren.
