IndyCar – Newgarden takes pole at Road America

Team Penske won the pole for the third consecutive season at the Road America GP (Wisconsin). After Helio Castroneves in 2016 and Will Power last year, it was Josef Newgarden who was the fastest in the Fast Six by completing a time of 1'42''2026 with four hundredths ahead of his teammate, thus winning the fifth pole of his career, his third of the season.

The Andretti drivers monopolized the second row of the grid with Ryan Hunter-Reay third ahead of Alexander Red. Sebastian Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing) completed the standings in the final qualifying session behind Robert Wickens (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports).

simon pagenaud (Team Penske) lacked success since it was eliminated from the first qualifying group. The 2016 champion will start from 14th place. Championship leader Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) fared better by taking eighth position.

The Road America GP will be broadcast live this Sunday at 19 p.m. on Canal+ Sport.
