IndyCar – Pagenaud on pole at Mid-Ohio

simon pagenaud (Team Penske) does not count on letting his teammate Will Power reduce the gap in the Championship. The Poitevin rider, who nevertheless suffers from back pain, won pole at Mid-Ohio by setting the new lap record with a time of 1'03''8700 and beating the 2014 champion by six hundredths.

Josef Newgarden (Ed Carpenter Racing) followed more than two tenths behind, while the second row of the grid is completed by Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport). Charlie Kimball (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Graham Rahal (RLL Racing) completed the top six in qualifying.

Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) took seventh place ahead of teammate Juan Pablo Montoya, while Schmidt Peterson Motorsports drivers James Hinchcliffe and Mikhail Aleshin finished in the top ten.

Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing) will start from 16th place. R.C Eernson (Dale Coyne Racing), who performs his first race in IndyCar, will start in 18th position.
