IndyCar – Pagenaud: “I try to be consistent”

Beaten by his Penske teammate Juan Pablo Montoya in the streets of St Petersburg, simon pagenaud found in Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing – Chevrolet), outgoing champion of the IndyCar Series, a strong opponent last weekend on the Phoenix oval in Arizona.

If victory once again eluded the Frenchman, his excellent start to the season allows him to lead the general classification of the championship across the Atlantic for the first time in his career. A regularity which former driver Schmidt Peterson Motorsports seems to make his credo at the start of the campaign.

“I'm really happy with second place, comments the Frenchman. As I said before the race, it [oval racing] wasn't my strong point in the past. This is my best result on a short oval. It's not where I've been most comfortable in the past, but now things are changing. If where we are weak we finish second, that's really good. It's a long championship, and I try to be consistent. »

Simon Pagenaud will find circuits which should be favorable to him during the next three rounds in Long Beach (California), Barber (Alabama) and on the Indianapolis Infield (where he won in 2014) before the big meeting of the 500 miles where he showed himself more than to his advantage at the start of the race last year.
