IndyCar – Pagenaud regains pole in Detroit

simon pagenaud returned to the forefront during qualifying for Race 1 of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit (Michigan). The Championship leader completed a lap of the Belle Isle circuit in 1'14''9166 during the Firestone Fast Six to beat his teammate by a hundredth of a second Helio Castroneves, while Juan Pablo Montoya secured third position by failing six tenths from the benchmark.

James Hinchcliffe (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports), the pole sitter for the 100th edition of the Indianapolis 500, took fourth place ahead of Carlos Munoz (Andretti Autosport) and Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing).

If Will Power (Team Penske) achieved the best performance in practice, the 2014 champion had to settle for the fifth row of the grid. Sebastian Bourdais (KVSH Racing) will start from 13th place. As for Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport), the Indy 500 winner only took 17th position.
