IndyCar – Pagenaud wins at Long Beach

simon pagenaud won his first victory for Team Penske by winning the Grand Prix of Long Beach (California), third event of the season, ahead of Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) and the pole sitter Helio Castroneves.

The fight at the front remained close throughout the race which did not experience the slightest interruption. By stopping after the leaders, the Poitevin took the advantage even if he received a warning from the marshals for crossing the line at the exit of the pits.

By signing his first success in IndyCar since Houston (Texas) in 2014, the Frenchman consolidates his position as leader of the Championship with 14 points ahead of Scott Dixon.

Juan Pablo Montoya (Team Penske) and Takuma Sato (AJ Foyt Entreprises) complete the top five ahead of Tony Kanaan (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Will Power (Team Penske). Sebastian Bourdais (KVSH Racing) made a strong comeback to take ninth place, finishing between James Hinchcliffe (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports) and Josef Newgarden (Ed Carpenter Racing).
