Indycar – Power on pole ahead of Dixon and Pagenaud

Will Power regains pole position on the Mid-Ohio circuit by setting the best time in Fast Six with a time of 1'05"6474. The Team Penske driver will have a great opportunity to catch up with his Championship rivals since Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) failed in the second round while Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) did not even qualify in the top 12 and will only start in 23rd position after an engine change made by his team after the session. The Australian will nevertheless have to be wary at the start of his long-time rival Dario Franchitti (Ganassi Racing) who failed just two tenths from pole.

Today's performance can be attributed to simon pagenaud (Schmidt-Hamilton Motorsports) who was keen to make amends after his missed weekend in Edmonton. The Frenchman achieved his best performance in qualifying by taking third place on the grid, only eight thousandths behind the reigning champion. Alex Tagliani (Team Barracuda-BHA) was due to start from fourth position but the Canadian will have to move back ten places on the grid following an engine change. Scott Dixon (Ganassi Racing) will therefore complete the second row ahead of Ryan Briscoe (Team Penske) and Sébastien Bourdais who took advantage of Alex Tagliani's penalty to take sixth place after failing at the gates of the last qualifying round.

The race can be followed live tomorrow from 18:45 p.m. on Motors TV.
