IndyCar – Power wins, Pagenaud retires

Will Power seriously returns to simon pagenaud in the title race after his victory at Pocono (Pennsylvania) where he took advantage of the abandonment of the Championship leader. The 2014 champion scored his 29th victory in IndyCar by dominating the ABC Supply 500 postponed for a day due to the weather to win with more than a second ahead of pole sitter Mikhail Aleshin (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports).

Above all, the Australian reduced his gap from 58 to 20 points over his teammate and Championship leader Simon Pagenaud who hit the wall at turn 1 on the 158th lap. Poitevin's abandonment largely reduced his lead with three races remaining, Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway postponed and the points being doubled in the final in Sonoma (California) on September 18.

His compatriot Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing) fared better as the four-time Champ Car champion took fifth place behind Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) and Josef Newgarden (Ed Carpenter Racing).

The race was also marked by an impressive collision in the pits involving three drivers. Alexander Red (Andretti Herta Autosport) found himself propelled into the air after contact with Charlie Kimball (Chip Ganassi Racing) and found himself on the car byHelio Castroneves (Team Penske) fortunately unhurt.
