IndyCar – Power wants to take back power in Texas

Will Power was the fastest at the end of qualifying for the Firestone 550 held on the Texas Motor Speedway oval. The driver of the No. 12 DW12 took his second pole of the season (after St Petersburg) with an average speed of 219,182 mph (352 km/h), beating last year's pole by more than 3,5 mph. Alex Tagliani. “The car was quite competitive. We thought we would get pole last year and we did it this year. It's going to be an interesting race.", comments the Australian who took eighth place last year. Marco Andretti (Andretti Autosport) was closest to the Penske driver by qualifying at an average speed of 217,553mph and achieves his best qualifying result on this oval. Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) and Dario Franchitti (Ganassi Racing) will start from the second row. EJ Viso (Andretti Autosport) and Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) round out the top six.

The French were, to say the least, discreet during this qualifying session. Sebastian Bourdais (Dragon Racing) only took 17th position but should nevertheless gain a place with the ten-place grid penalty imposed on Simona de Silvestro (KV Racing Technology) following an engine change. Schmidt Motorsports drivers, simon pagenaud and Tristan Vautier will also start from the back of the grid for having received the same penalties. “We have a better car than the one shown in qualifying”, declares the winner of the Detroit event who only took 14th position. “It didn't work out the way we wanted but it will be a long race. The main thing is to have a stable car to be able to be consistent. »
