IndyCar – First success for Josef Newgarden

The Alabama Grand Prix honored the American Joseph Newgarden at the end of the 90 laps of racing scheduled this Sunday. The pilot of the #12 Chevrolet-powered DW67 from CFH Racing offers the first victory to its new formation born from the merger between Ed Carpenter Racing and Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing in front of the other hero of the day, Graham rahal (RLL Racing? Honda), author of a superb comeback at the end of the race, consecutively swallowing up his American compatriot Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport? Honda) and the Brazilian Helio Castroneves (Team Penske? Chevrolet) on two similar maneuvers, as well as New Zealander Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing? Chevrolet), only to fail just over two seconds behind the winner.

Reigning champion Will Power (Team Penske) finished 4th after a race marked in particular by a drive-through, following contact with Takuma Sato (AJ Foyt Enterprises? Honda). Ryan Hunter-Reay completes the top 5 ahead of Colombian Carlos Munoz (Andretti Autosport? Honda), Canadian James Hinchcliffe (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports? Honda) and the French Sébastien Bourdais (KV Racing? Chevrolet) and simon pagenaud (Team Penske).

Despite his 14th place today, Colombian Juan-Pablo Montoya (Team Penske) remains in control of the general classification by three points ahead of Helio Castroneves. The next test in IndyCar will take place on May 9 on the Indianapolis road course.
