Schmidt Peterson Motorsports was quick to find Mikhail Aleshin's replacement to drive the #7 Dallara, after the separation by mutual agreement between the Russian and Sam Schmidt's structure. Aleshin will focus at the end of the year on the development of the private BR1 LM P1, underway within Dallara and BR Engineering before a commitment to WEC next year.
SPM will trust Colombian Sebastian Saavedra for the two upcoming rounds at Pocono (Pennsylvania) this weekend and at Gateway Motorsports Park (Illinois) in a week. Saavedra had already been called up at the last minute by SPM during Aleshin's package in Toronto, Canada.
« It's another late call, but I approach it with pride after a promising start together in Toronto, says Saavedra. I'm looking forward to an event as challenging as Pocono's Tricky Triangle and I want to help James Hinchcliffe earn championship points. »
Saavedra also competed in the Indianapolis 500 earlier in the season with a fifteenth place finish, under the colors of Juncos Racing.
