IndyCar – Servia and Montoya approve 2018 kit

For this second test session of the 2018 aero kit Indycar brought by Dallara, Juan Pablo Montoya and Oriol Servia tested the road and short oval configuration on the Mid-Ohio circuit. The two veterans particularly appreciated the improvements made compared to current cars.

« I think it will be easier to see the drivers' hands moving the steering wheel, comments the Colombian, and I think we will see cars running out of steam more easily. The chances of mistakes are greater, so I think the races will be better."

With downforce reduced by almost a third compared to the 2017 cars, the cars will allow for fewer errors from drivers and generate less turbulence, allowing cars to follow each other more easily on track.

« Honestly, it was great, adds the Spaniard. I'm not just saying that because that's what we wanted. But it's definitely much better than this year's car. Even in Detroit where the speeds are lower and I ran my first race of the year, I couldn't get close to anyone even in the slow corners because there was too much downforce. »
