IndyCar – Simon Pagenaud on pole at Sonoma

This new pole position this season should give confidence simon pagenaud before the big meeting this evening in Sonoma, California. The championship-leading Team Penske – Chevrolet driver will enter the 2016 title decider in a favorable position, having dominated qualifying.

Author of a best tour in 1'16 "256, the Frenchman beat the three other single-seaters from Roger Penske's team with, in order, Helio Castroneves second at 156 thousandths, Juan Pablo Montoya, at 0″283 and his rival Will Power, fourth at more than four tenths. But the Australian set his time on hard tyres, while his teammates put on the softer tyres.

Graham Rahal (Team RLL – Honda) and Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport – Honda) also made it into the top 6 of the session. Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing – Chevrolet) will start from seventh position, after missing Fast 6 by 4 thousandths. Sebastian Bourdais (KVSH Racing – Chevrolet) set the 9th fastest time.
