IndyCar – Stefan Wilson will return to Indy 500

Stefan Wilson will compete in the Indianapolis 500 for the second time, being entered as fifth driver for Andretti Autosport in the No. 25. The younger brother of Justin Wilson (died on August 24, 2015 during the ordeal ofIndyCar in Pocono) will be lined up alongside Alexander Red, the winner of the 100th edition of Indy 500), of Marco Andretti, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Zach Veach.

“It was a bit of a roller coaster to confirm this presence, but I felt honored and lucky to be able to take part in this event, comments Stefan Wilson. I just think about the future and tell myself that I'm going to play for one of the most successful teams at Indy. »

Stefan Wilson will be supported by the Indiana Donor Network which communicates the importance of organ donations and transplants.

“I won several races (in Indy Lights) with Andretti Autosports during my season in 2011, but my career was more complicated after that. It gave me great determination and Justin's death made it even stronger. In a way, I feel like I'm riding for him as much as for myself. I want to succeed and achieve something he never had the chance to have. I want to win the Indy 500,” underlines Stefan Wilson.

His first participation in the Indy 500 with KVSH Racing in 2016 ended with a retirement due to an electrical problem. The 28-year-old Briton planned to take part in this year's edition, but his place was reserved for Fernando Alonso.
