IndyCar – Takuma Sato confirmed with Rahal

Takuma Sato will reunite with Rahal Letterman Lanigan for his ninth season in IndyCar after having evolved within Bobby Rahal's team in 2012. The winner of the 101st edition of Indy 500 last May will thus leave Andretti Autosport. The Japanese, who finished eighth in the Championship, has two victories in the discipline, seven poles, six podiums and 16 top fives.

“I’m delighted to have Takuma back, said Bobby Rahal. I admire his team spirit and his approach to racing. I was really happy for him when he won the Indy 500. Having the chance to take him back, it was an opportunity we couldn't pass up. With Graham, they know each other very well and we will give them two cars that can compete for victory in 2018.”

Takuma Sato will be replaced by Zach Vech at Andretti Autosport, with the team fielding an all-American crew with Marco Andretti, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Alexander Red.

“I am very happy to return to Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, commented for his part the former Bar-Honda driver who has 90 Grand Prix starts. The team has been very competitive in recent seasons and I'm looking forward to the 2018 season. I think we can achieve great things together. »
