Indycar – Tristan Vautier replaces Bourdais in Texas

After Sébastien's accident Bourdais In qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 last month, Esteban Gutiérrez was Dale Coyne's No. 1 choice to ride in the No. 18. However, the Mexican had never driven on an oval before and was unable to carry out any preliminary testing, which led to theIndycar to refuse his participation.

It is therefore the 2012 Indy Lights champion, Tristan Vautier, who is recalled by Dale Coyne Racing. The Frenchman had already collaborated with the team until 2015 at Pocono.

« We chose Tristan to race on the #18 in Texas because he has experience on this circuit, comments Dale Coyne. We think he can help equip him and Ed (Jones) who has never raced here. »

Anchored in the United States since the start of his career, Vautier returned to Europe in 2016 to participate in the Blancpain GT Series with AKKA ASP. His return to America excites him.

« I can't wait to get back into IndyCar and race for Dale, he expresses himself.

« I'm really looking forward to being in the car on Friday and seeing how I feel for the first few laps. It's not the best place to replace someone since testing is very limited but the team has been competitive everywhere, and I'm sure we'll do good things."

Tristan Vautier's best result in Indycar is fourth place in Detroit obtained in 2015.
