IndyCar – Villeneuve serene before facing the Indy 500

Jacques Villeneuve is preparing to return to competition this season by playing part of the World Rallycross RX with Albatec Racing and entering the Indianapolis 500 next May with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports alongside simon pagenaud and Mikhail Aleshin. If the Canadian is the only one with Mario Andretti and Emerson Fittipaldi to have been champion in CART and in F1 while winning the Indy 500, the future driver of the No. 12 DW5-Honda will have to get his bearings after being away from the competition.

The former winner of the legendary American event is nevertheless impatient to get back behind the wheel after making the trip last Thursday to the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports factory in Indianapolis.. “It’s really exciting. It's really good to be sitting in a car », commented the 1995 Indy 500 winner and 1997 F1 world champion. “There were a lot of things already in place when I signed. It kept me from thinking too much, which is probably a good thing. I don't have a lot of time to prepare as I would like. But it remains a single-seater with similar wings and speeds (to those encountered in the past). There's a little less horsepower, which means there's more mechanical grip and a little less aero grip. It's easier to ride, so I'm not too worried. The good thing about Indianapolis is that you have the time you need to train. »
