IndyCar – Will Power must defend his status in Milwaukee

After 2010 and 2012, Will Power finds himself leading the Championship for the third time in his career with three races remaining. The Team Penske driver who has always lacked success when he approached the coronation will have to ward off bad luck at the end of the season where he is only four points ahead of his teammate Helio Castroneves. “It’s probably time to think about victory”, comments the leader who has two successes to his credit this year. “We will win the Championship if I win in the last two or three events. But it always depends on the situation and you have to know how to adapt over the weekends. This is how you get the best results. »

Will Power will be able to put this strategy into practice this weekend on the Milwaukee Mile where he took third place last year. Luckily, this short oval is one of the Australian's favorite tracks. “It's the only oval on which we can drive without too much banking. The settings of the car become particularly important. We can see many drivers performing well at the start of the race collapsing at the end and vice versa, which provides a great end to the event. We are sometimes on an offbeat strategy with new tires unlike the others, which also offers an interesting race. This is another special meeting of theIndyCar which I appreciate like the other ovals this season. »

But the Championship could still experience upheavals in Sonoma (August 24) and Fontana (August 30) in California. But Will Power is confident, especially since he won on the Florida oval last year after a lackluster season. “I am not sure that any driver will benefit from this calendar given the direction taken by the discipline. This seems to change every year. In any case, I particularly like the Sonoma circuit which is very technical. Fontana was an important moment in my career, I was more happy with this success than in any other race. These are circuits where I keep magnificent memories. »
