IndyCar – Will Power takes Penske hat-trick in qualifying to Barber

For the second time in three races in 2017, Will Power took pole position in qualifying in IndyCar. On the Barber Motorsports Park track in Alabama, the resident of Team Penske – Chevrolet was ahead of his teammates in the last part of the session, the famous Fast 6. Helio Castroneves et simon pagenaud.

With a reference lap completed in 1'06″961, Power was ahead of the Brazilian by 181 thousandths when the reigning French champion failed more than four tenths behind the Australian.

Team Penske and engine manufacturer Chevrolet secure a hat-trick in this session as Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing), Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) and James Hinchcliffe (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports) complete the first six positions with the single-seaters powered by the block Honda.

Less success on the other hand for Sébastien Bourdais. The Dale Coyne Racing – Honda driver, championship leader before this weekend, was unable to make it into Fast 6 and will start from twelfth position.
