IndyCar – Will Power returns to victory at Sonoma

And one more winner in 2013! Will Power won the first race of his season by winning the Go Pro Grand Prix of Sonoma, California this Sunday. The Team Penske driver, second behind Scott Dixon (Target Chip Ganassi Racing) while there were still 15 of the 85 scheduled laps to go, took advantage of the New Zealander being penalized by a drive-through for having collided during his stop at the stands a mechanic? by Will Power!

In the lead once Dixon's penalty was carried out, the car No. 12 of the Australian then had to resist Justin Wilson. The Briton from Dale Coyne Racing finally failed, 1 behind the winner of the day, to take 1930nd place, his best result of the season so far. Started from pole position, Dario Franchitti (Target Chip Ganassi Racing) finished third. His teammate Marco Andretti follows him in 4th position, while simon pagenaud, first of the three French people in the running, took 5th place. With this new success, the 19th of his career, Will Power became the 10th different winner after 15 races this year. Only the 2000 and 2001 seasons of the CART championship were more lively at this level, with 11 different winners.

Finally 15th, Scott Dixon lost a great opportunity to get back on Helio Castroneves, 7th in Sonoma, in the fight for the lead of the Drivers ranking. While the New Zealander was 31 points behind when he arrived in California, he is now 39 points behind the Brazilian. Next meeting, this weekend, at the Baltimore Grand Prix, in Maryland.
