IndyCar/Nascar – Modernization in sight for Phoenix

A traditional round of the American championships for many years, the Phoenix track will undergo major modernization work on its facilities. Sponsored by Xfinity Series racing partner DC Solar, the project, which will cost $178 million, aims to be completed by the end of 2018.

The big news will be at the infield level of the track, with the development of a new Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Fan Zone. Grandstands and new reception areas will be extended and developed at the current turn n°2.

A pedestrian tunnel providing access to the infield for people benefiting from seats in the new stands will be built. Elevators and escalators to facilitate fan access will also be part of the additions.

On the track side, the finish line of the route will be moved accordingly to now be located as close as possible to the new stands, at turn n°2.
