Jordan King arrives in IndyCar

THEIndyCar will welcome a new rookie in the person of Jordan King. The 23-year-old Briton will defend the colors of Ed Carpenter Racing at the wheel of the #12 DW20-Chevrolet which has been reserved for the last two seasons for Spencer Pigot. The 2013 British champion F3 will be entered in eleven rounds of the calendar and will leave his place to the boss-driver of the team of the same name for the oval events.

“It took a lot of effort, recognizes Jordan King. It was a goal I had set for myself since attending the 2016 season finale in Sonoma (where simon pagenaud won the victory and the title). I think the European races are a good preparation for the urban and road events. I'll let Ed and the other experts do the oval racing and I'll learn from the outside. It will help me a lot for the future. »

Jordan King seems to be involved for the long term since he hopes to compete in the entire IndyCar calendar in 2019. He will reunite on the grid with his former teammate Alexander Red who played with him in Racing Engineering in the GP2 Series in 2015.

“We had dinner together with Conor Daly. We talked about these cars, how to drive them, all the things you know after being exposed to them for a few years. I took as much as I could…”, adds the former Manor development pilot F1.

Jordan King visited his new team last December in Indianapolis. His debut with ECR will begin at the St Petersburg GP (Florida) on the weekend of March 11.
