Jordan King will make his Indy 500 debut

Jordan King will debut at next year's Indy 500, racing on May 26 for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Former Manor development driver F1 started in IndyCar this year with Ed Carpenter Racing but has so far only competed in road events, with an 11th place in Toronto (Canada) as the best result in 11 events. The 2013 British champion F3 nevertheless knows the Indianapolis Motor Speedway having competed in the road race there.

“It’s a race that I have been preparing for a long time and that I have always dreamed of competing in because it is the jewel of IndyCar, explains the 24-year-old Briton. I attended the race last year and really enjoyed the weekend. I knew immediately that I had to be part of it and so this is big news for me. »

“We went from a situation where I wasn't able to find a full-time driver for next year to committing to one of the biggest races in the world, continues the oval rookie. This will be my very first race on a superspeedway and it should be a great experience every time I get the chance to get behind the wheel. My goal in the 500 will be to prove to myself that I can run on ovals. I've already competed in road and street races this season and I'm looking forward to building up my CV to get a full season's drive. »

“Jordan impressed me last year with his pace over several races, comments for his part Bobby Rahal, the co-owner of the stable of the same name. So yes, it was on road and urban events, but he quickly found the limits of the Dallara and we quickly saw that he had the potential to do well. Although this will be his first event on an oval, with track time available, he will have time to find the rhythm and meet the challenges that come with racing on an oval. The contribution of two experienced teammates will also be a plus in his learning. »
