Josef Newgarden on pole at Road America

Josef Newgarden (Team Penske – Chevrolet) was the strongest in the qualifying exercise this Saturday evening at Road America (Wisconsin).

The reigning champion of IndyCar Series dominated the day's session, where the drivers were divided into two groups. Engaged in group B, the American achieved the absolute best time in 1'45″519 on his last attempt.

Enough to beat Jack Harvey (Meyer Shank Racing – Honda), dominator of the first qualifying group, but with a time of 1'47″729, insufficient to take pole position.

The drivers from Josef Newgarden's group will therefore start from odd positions, those from Jack Harvey's group from even positions on the grid. We will thus find Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing – Honda) in ninth position when simon pagenaud (Team Penske) could not do better than 17th place.

The first Road America race will start at 23 p.m. French time.
