Kanaan so often close to victory at Indy 500

Tony Kanaan will compete this Sunday in his 12th start at the Indy 500 where he has never won. The Brazilian has, however, achieved a series of good results since he has a fifth place (2006), a fourth place (2011), two third positions (2003 and 2012) and a second place in 2004 where he lost to to the winner Buddy Rice. The resident of KV Racing Technology will start this year from 12th place on the grid and will be hopeful of achieving his first success in Indianapolis, but his performances on this oval do not make him pretentious.

“I don’t feel like this place owes me anything”, comments the driver of the #12 DW11-Chevrolet. “I had some great times here. Some people will say I'm making excuses, but I can only say that I put myself in a position to win this race every time. That's all I can do. I have led here eight times in 11 starts (with a total of 221 laps). I think the spectators know how hard I work to establish myself. It would be really unfair of me to say that I deserve the victory because 32 other drivers are aiming for the same result. »
