Long Beach Grand Prix postponed due to coronavirus

New postponement in the world of motorsport due to the coronavirus. This time it is the Long Beach Grand Prix, which traditionally welcomes the IndyCar Series and theIMSA, which will not take place on the planned dates of April 17 to 19.

A decision taken after the announcement by local authorities to ban gatherings of people until April 30, to prevent the spread of the virus. The United States also recently announced a ban on Europeans entering their territory (except Great Britain and Ireland).

“This action is consistent with our primary goal of ensuring the safety and well-being of the public at our event, comment the organizers.

We are in conversation with the City of Long Beach, various promoters and the Long Beach Convention Center to discuss the viability of rescheduling this event to a later date in the year.

If this is not possible, we look forward to the Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 16-18, 2021.”

A pure cancellation cannot therefore be ruled out for the event held near Los Angeles.
