IndyCar abandons double-file restarts

Restarts will no longer be contested in double file starting with this weekend's event at Texas Motor Speedway and the remaining races of the season. Officials felt that single-line starts were safer after attempting double-line restarts on ovals, except at Indianapolis.

“We have made progress this year in our restart procedures, which has allowed us to apply single-line restarts in all events, including the Indianapolis 500,” commented Derrick Walker, the President of Competition and Operations of theIndyCar. “We also felt that it was important to place our competitors in the exact order established before the interruption and not to advantage certain drivers by having an advantageous trajectory. »
