IndyCar will make its road race at Indianapolis in 2014

Graham Rahal and Ryan Briscoe gave very positive feedback at the end of the IndyCar tests carried out on the Indianapolis road course. The discipline has finally confirmed that it will compete in an event on this track in 2014, which will be a first in its history. The race will be organized at the beginning of May, a few days before the Indianapolis 500 organized on the 25th of the same month. “I loved it when I tested it”, declared Graham Rahal, referring to the track already used in Grand-Am and in Moto GP. “I think it will be a great opportunity to put on a great show. »

THEIndyCar will provide more details on October 1 regarding the event. The news is in any case something to delight the paddock of the discipline, and in particular Roger Penske, the director of the eponymous team. “I think the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will add some excitement around May in Indianapolis. I'm excited to see IMS and IndyCar exploring new opportunities to help elevate our sport. I have been coming to this track since 1951 and have a deep respect for the history and heritage of Indianapolis. As someone who was fortunate enough to win the Indy 500 and the first Nationwide Series event at Indy, I can tell you it would be fantastic to win that first IndyCar road race at Indianapolis. »
