McLaren working towards 2019 commitment says IndyCar boss

By confirming his absence from the World Championship F1 2019, Fernando Alonso has opened up speculation about his immediate future in motorsport.

His program with Toyota Gazoo Racing must lead him to compete for the entirety of the end of the Super-Season of WEC, thus avoiding the conflict of dates between the 2019 Australian Grand Prix and the 1000 miles of Sebring, but all eyes are on theIndyCar.

In action at the 500 Indianapolis 2017 with the alliance McLaren – Andretti – Honda, the double Spanish world champion could return to the American championship for a program that remains to be defined, and thus try to aim for the Triple Crown for the second time.

Mark Miles, CEO of Hulman & Company, parent company of the IndyCar Series, has in any case confided that the British structure is working in this direction. “Today's (yesterday's) announcement has certainly fueled the excitement of IndyCar fans who are hoping that Alonso will compete in the full championship in 2019, comments the manager on the discipline website.

McLaren is working to put all necessary arrangements in place and we support their efforts. I don't expect this to be resolved before the end of this year. »
