Pagenaud regains victory in Indianapolis

simon pagenaud (Team Penske) won the Indianapolis Grand Prix again three years after having already won in this event. The 2016 champion scored his first victory in IndyCar since the final in Sonoma (California) in 2017 after standing out in the rain in the last part of the race.

The Poitevin driver was the fastest on the wet Indiana track and finally managed to catch up with the leader Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) at the very end of the race. The French driver won by 2 seconds, while Jack Harvey (Meyer Shank Racing) completed the podium ahead of Matheus Leist (AJ Foyt Racing) and Ed Carpenter Racing drivers Spencer Pigot and Ed Jones.

Pole sitter Felix Rosenqvist (Chip Ganassi Racing) had to settle for 8th place, placing himself between Will Power (Team Penske) and Graham Rahal (RLL Racing). Santino Ferrucci (Dale Coyne Racing) completed the Top 10 ahead of his teammate Sébastien Bourdais.

Josef Newgarden (Team Penske) had a bad weekend. The championship leader only finished 15th after being penalized for skating when leaving his pit box. The American retains the lead in the Drivers' standings after seeing off Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport) finish last classified. The former Indy 500 winner suffered damage following contact with Patricio O'Ward (Carlin).

Newgarden now leads the championship with 6 points ahead of Scott Dixon while Simon Pagenaud climbs to 4th position behind Alexander Rossi.
