Pikes Peak – Dumas had a blast behind the wheel of his Porsche 911 GT3 R

This Wednesday, Romain Dumas discovered the first 8,3 kilometers of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb at the wheel of his unbridled Prosche 911 GT3 with more than 550 hp. The experience was conclusive since the Frenchman achieved the best times during the day's two passages in this first portion of the route.

Timed in 4'04"834, Dumas looked back on his first day on the famous American mountain. “ I was looking forward to riding Pikes Peak and am glad to have had a real glimpse of this myth. I was expecting a challenge, it is one. Learning the route through videos or on foot is one thing, driving there is another. The setting is magnificent and driving here is simply a treat. On this subject, I can't wait to discover what happens next! I'm already having a lot of fun, but I quickly immersed myself in the competition with this session which was qualifying. »

Romain Dumas will tackle the second portion of the route during the second day of testing which will take place this Thursday. He intends to continue his momentum.” This is a section made up of many pins with therefore multiple relaunches, He explains. The profile is different and the lessons will therefore also certainly be different. We must put the times of this first day into perspective: it is only the first day of testing and the candidates for overall victory have not yet all passed, but it is clearly a good boost for the whole team which did a very good job. I would also like to thank Fred Veitch (who runs on a Porsche 996 Turbo) and the Porsche dealership in Colorado Springs who helped us a lot. »
