His victory in the last Indianapolis 500 (Indiana) in May was not an anomaly; Will Power (Penske) is now as comfortable on a road circuit as on an ultra-fast track. The proof with his pole position for the Pocono (Pennsylvania) event, collected on a track in the shape of a rounded triangle as fast as a classic oval.

Already winner of the last two races held at Pocono, the Australian scored his first pole there on Saturday. He will lead the peloton at the start of the 200-lap race on Sunday and will be in an advantageous position to become the first driver to win three 500-mile events in a row (Indianapolis, Iowa, Pocono) since Al Unser in 1978.
His teammate Josef Newgarden (Penske) will be alongside him thanks to a better average over two laps than Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport). The two French people are ranked in the top 10. simon pagenaud (Penske) will start fifth at six tenths and Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing) will be eighth.
Leader of the general classification, Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi) was stuck in the middle of the table and only recorded the 13th fastest time (+1”1). The first beginner classified in this session is the Canadian Robert Wickens (Schmit Peterson Motorsports), sixth, seven tenths behind.
For his second race after his terrible accident in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) in May, Pietro Fittipaldi (Dale Coyne Racing) set the 17th time.
