Power will start in the lead in Portland, Bourdais fourth

Winner last week at Gateway, Will Power (Penske) continues its momentum. The champion ofIndyCar in 2014 took pole position on the road circuit at Portland International Raceway (Oregon) on Saturday. The Australian did much better than during his two previous visits to this circuit (seventh in 2006 and 2007).

This is Will Power's third pole in the last five rounds. The point awarded for the best qualifying lap allows him to get closer to 67 points behind leader Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi). The latter did not have a good session because he will have to start from 11th place.

Another challenger for the crown, Alexander Red (Andretti, 2nd, 26 points behind Scott Dixon) had more success and will start in third position on the grid. “But as I always say, Dixon can start wherever he wants, he will always finish at the front”, tempers the American.

The day was more eventful for Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing). The Frenchman seriously damaged his car during the third free practice session in the morning. In less than three hours, his team's mechanics returned the car to perfect condition!

“Without having three teams of mechanics (three cars are entered by Dale Coyne Racing this weekend), I don't think we would have been able to repair the car. What an incredible effort from the team! » Sébastien Bourdais thanked his men with the fourth time.

simon pagenaud (Penske) will have more difficulty having registered the 22nd time.
