Power gets back into title race at Gateway

If Will Power (Team Penske) lost big last year at Gateway Motorsports Park (Illinois) by retiring on the 5th lap, the winner of the 102nd edition of the Indy 500 experienced more success this time on the 1,25 mile oval as he scored his third victory of the season, tying Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing), Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport) and Josef Newgarden (Team Penske).

“We had so much rhythm, it was really fun. I've never overtaken so many cars. These races are the most fun. I didn't have to calculate my fuel level or that sort of thing.", commented the winner who celebrated his 35th success in IndyCar.

If Scott Dixon has finished in the Top 5 in the last three races, he sees his lead reduced to 26 points after completing the podium behind Alexander Rossi before the final in Sonoma (California) held next weekend.

“There were two different strategies to play and I'm a little sorry for not having chosen which one to take sooner. I don't know if it would have made a big difference at the finish, but it's a solid result and we only dropped a few points on Rossi.", explained the four-time champion.

simon pagenaud (Team Penske) took 4th place ahead of rookie Zach Veach (Andretti Autosport), Spencer Pigot (Ed Carpenter Racing), Josef Newgarden and Ed Jones (Chip Ganassi Racing), the last to finish on the winner's lap. Sebastian Bourdais (Dae Coyne Racing) retired at the start due to contact.
