Road America 2 – Rosenqvist scores his first career success

Chip Ganassi Racing remains the standard value at the start of the 2020 season in IndyCar Series. But this time, the victory is to the credit of Felix rosenqvist, who ideally takes over from his teammate Scott Dixon, winner yesterday.

Immediately after the start, the race was quickly neutralized under a yellow flag, after the accident at the first corner causing the main victim Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport – Honda), hit by Will Power (Team Penske – Chevrolet), as well as the contact between Graham Rahal (Team RLL – Honda) and the same Power a little further on at the 2nd turn, eliminating Rahal after violent contact with the wall.

An incident from which Rosenqvist fared rather well, affected by the car in Rahal's distress, but the Swede can then continue his race.

Adventures which will result in a penalty for Power for avoidable contact, the Australian starting in last position behind the Safety Car. After three laps, the latter faded allowing poleman Pato O’Ward (McLaren SP – Chevrolet) to take the lead again ahead of Colton Herta (Andretti Harding Steinbrenner – Honda).

Not for long since it was Will Power's turn to cause a yellow flag two laps later, making a mistake in the gravel trap. On the restart, O'Ward remained in the lead and began to try to widen the gap.

Ranged duel

It's a mano a mano that will settle between the leader Pato O'Ward and Felix Rosenqvist as the laps go by. The Swede seemed to catch up with the leading man for a moment by accumulating good laps, but the former winner of the Macau Grand Prix lost precious seconds during a stop shortly before halfway, with a left front wheel. not fixed even though the car had been rested, putting O'Ward back with a lead of 7″.

The scenario then repeats itself in the penultimate stint, where Rosenqvist regains ground on the Mexican, before the final pit stop where O'Ward chooses soft tires and Rosenqvist hard tires.

The latter tirelessly climbs back on O’Ward, and two laps from the goal, takes the best at the cost of a magnificent maneuver, wheel against wheel, virile but correct.

Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport – Honda), unhappy since the start of the season, scored his first podium by finishing 3rd ahead of Marcus Ericsson (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Colton Herta, who completed the top 5.

Winner of the first three races of the year, including yesterday's, Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) lost time during his last stop after stalling, and only finished 12th behind the returning Will Power, but ahead simon pagenaud (Team Penske) who never seemed to find the right rhythm on the Wisconsin circuit.

Dixon remains overall leader ahead of Colton Herta, Simon Pagenaud and Pato O'Ward before the next double header next weekend on an oval in Iowa.
