Roger Penske: Will Power 'didn't like ovals'

On his 11th attempt, Will Power (Penske) finally won the 500 Miles of Indianapolis (Indiana) on Sunday. The Australian brought joy to his team, starting with Roger Penske, the founder of the eponymous team.

“This is the last chapter that was missing from his story in IndyCar since he had already won the championship (2014. Editor’s note). He experienced ups and downs, lost titles, several in a row even. But he's in another dimension now. Today, he is on track to become the team's winningest driver in IndyCar (29) », explains the man who is nicknamed “The Captain” in the paddocks of the American championship.

As the founder of the team revealed, Will Power did not have oval racing in his heart. « At first, I can tell you he didn't like it. He suffered. Then there was this race in Texas (in 2011. Editor’s note), which he won. It changed everything and we saw it on Sunday. »

Finally, came to Indiana for an exceptional freelance in IndyCar, Helio Castroneves should return in 2019. The Brazilian remains part of the Penske team to this day, but now in Imsa on an Acura DPi. " He will come back. He will be in one of our cars next year”, assures Tim Cindric, President of Team Penske.
