Ryan Hunter-Reay winner of the storm

The rain played a big role in the Loudon race since no less than six restarts disrupted the race. But it is especially the last one which has brought the most confusion. Danica Patrick (Andretti Autosport) was unable to control her Dallara in the deluge and caused a pile-up, pushing the officials to restore the classification in force before the green flag.

Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti autosport) signs his first victory of the season ahead of Oriol Servia (Newman/Haas Racing), disappointed with the officials? decision after the Spaniard took the lead of the race just before the pileup.

“It’s a strange day, but sometimes races are strange”, comments the winner. “We knew we had a good car this week-end. The last restart was a bad decision but the team deserved this victory. I would have preferred to sign it differently but it is ours. »

Scott Dixon offers third place to the Target Chip Ganassi Racing team. His teammate Dario Franchitti, who started from pole on the Loudon oval, was less lucky. The Championship leader was sent into the wall by Takuma Sato (KV Racing Technology-Lotus), forcing the Scot to retire. “No excuse, it’s my fault”, recognizes the Japanese. “I was too close to Dario. He moved closer to me but I should have given him more space. »

Will Power (Team Penske) performed well by taking fifth place behind James Hinchcliffe (Newman/Haas Racing). The Australian had been involved in the accident at the end of the race and, thinking he was not classified, had not hidden his dissatisfaction with the officials.
