Scott McLaughlin to make IndyCar debut at St. Petersburg

Expected at the Indianapolis Grand Prix last May after successful tests at the Circuit of the Americas earlier in the year, Scott McLaughlin was ultimately unable to do his first laps of the race.IndyCar race. The health crisis forced the New Zealand driver to postpone his arrival in the category.

After several months of waiting, the leader of the Australian Supercars championship will finally be entitled to his first IndyCar Grand Prix. Team Penske has confirmed that Scott McLaughlin will start the final meeting of the 2020 season on the streets of Saint Petersburg, Florida.

" VS'is something I never stopped thinking about, but I also wanted to continue to focus on my quest for a third consecutive Supercars title with DJR Team Penske.

We are fully focused on the last three rounds of the Supercars season but I am still excited to finally have my chance in IndyCar and make my debut there. », smiles the main person concerned.

« I did everything I could to keep up to date with the progress of the season, I tried to watch as many races as possible and I even spoke with the drivers and some engineers from the team.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, I didn't know if I would have the chance to get behind the wheel of these cars again but I wanted to be ready in case the opportunity presented itself ».

In Saint Petersburg on October 25, Scott McLaughlin will be supported by his three partners from Team Penske, namely simon pagenaud, Will Power and Josef Newgarden.
