A Peugeot sold for more than 6 million euros

A record sale took place last weekend in Los Angeles (California). A Peugeot L45 Grand Prix which took part in the Indianapolis 500 was sold for $7,26 million, or just over six million euros, by Bonhams. The chassis bearing the number one concerned notably finished in third place in the 1916 edition led by the American Ralph Mulford.

This Sochaux racing car was bought in 1949 by Lindley Bothwell, an orange producer who bought the French car for around $2500, or a little over €2100.

The Peugeot L45 Grand Prix served as the basis for Peugeot's Vision Gran Turismo concept cars, most recently with the L750 R HYbrid based on the L 500 R HYbrid.
