Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and the IndyCar Series have confirmed that Robert Wicken, seriously accident Sunday evening in Pocono, was going to undergo spinal surgery.
Transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest following his serious accident in the first laps of the race held in Pennsylvania on Sunday evening, Robert Wickens was treated for injuries to both legs, right arm, a pulmonary contusion and another spinal injury.
After an MRI, it was this last point which forced the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports – Honda resident to undergo surgery on Monday evening, as confirmed by Sam Schmidt’s team during the night from Monday to Tuesday.
Further information regarding the Canadian's state of health will be provided in due course.
