Will Power wins the Indianapolis GP

Will Power (Team Penske) scored his 30th victory in IndyCar by winning the road race of the Indianapolis GP ahead of Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport). The 2014 champion briefly ceded the lead of the event to his teammate Helio Castroneves after the first stops, but regained control after his second pit stop.

The Brazilian finally had to settle for 5th place after completing his last stint on the hard tires. The Penske driver placed behind his teammate simon pagenaud who retains control of the Championship before Indy 500 with ten points ahead of Scott Dixon.

Juan Pablo Montoya, who makes his return to IndyCar for the Indianapolis meetings, completed the top ten behind Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing), Max Chilton (Chip Ganassi Racing), Alexander Red (Andretti Herta Autosport) and Spencer Pigot (Ed Carpenter Racing).

Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing) retired from the start of the race due to engine failure. The four-time Champ Car champion slips to 7th in the Drivers' standings.
