Jaguar Racing unveils its I-TYPE 3

After its debut in Formula E during the third campaign in 2016-2017, Jaguar Racing is now one of the regulars in the discipline, and will begin its third championship with a duo of drivers unchanged compared to 2017-2018, but with a brand new I-TYPE 3, based on the car Gen 2.

Nelson Piquet and Mitch Evans will indeed be able to count on a car on which the British brand seems to have worked a lot. Powertrain, cooling system, suspension, on-board software are some of the major new features of this single-seater. 800 parts are estimated to be new compared to the I-TYPE 2.

“It is fantastic to have Nelson and Mitch back with us to ensure consistency in our driver duo, recognizes team director James Barclay. The combined knowledge, experience and speed of both drivers will help us achieve our goal of being in the points at every race and fighting for the podium.

We expect the introduction of the new race car and the new sporting regulations to result in a very close season. We believe we are the first team to develop our powertrain entirely in-house, giving us ultimate control in terms of design and development and we hope this will give us a competitive advantage.

Technology is evolving at an incredibly rapid pace and the new Gen 2 car will provide an important test bed to help develop and improve the performance of our future electric vehicles. »

Let us also remember that the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy will take place alongside the Formula E events during this campaign, offering another exhibition platform for the firm.
