Juan Manuel Correa gives his news

A few days after having undergone a very heavy 17-hour operation, aimed at treating the serious injuries suffered to his right leg in the tragic Spa accident, John Manuel Correa spoke out on social media for the first time.

The American-Ecuadorian had given some news in the last press release explaining his situation after the operation, but this time decided to speak out loud.

“I would like to publicly express my most sincere condolences to the Hubert family, begins the Sauber Junior Team by Charouz driver. It’s such a shock to everyone that such an accident happened.

You never really think something like this could happen, especially not to you, until it does.

Obviously I still have a long recovery ahead of me. I still don't know if I'll ever get back to 100%, but I'm very grateful to be alive. I am very grateful to the people who have been with me these last five weeks.

I am very grateful to my family, the support they gave me. Without them, I would not have succeeded. It changed my life and the way I see life. The support, the loving messages from people I don't even know personally, I read almost all of them.

I have accepted what happened and I can only be positive now and work as hard as possible for the best and fastest recovery. Another operation is planned for next Monday and this should be the last here in London.

Afterwards, at the beginning of November, I will go to Miami to see my family and begin my convalescence, which should last, according to the doctors here, from ten months to a year.

I can't really know what my right foot will do, because I have a metal frame that won't let me move, and it's still healing. I am positive. There is nothing else to do. I can either be here, be depressed, or keep going, be positive and do my best for recovery. I will keep you personally informed from now on. »

CARhebdo reiterates its full support for Juan Manuel Correa.
