Jules Bianchi: “Goal achieved”

Jules Bianchi actually scored his second podium at the wheel of a GP2 car this weekend. Last winter, in the GP2 Asia Series, on cars less advanced than those currently running in the GP2 Main Series, the Frenchman finished in third place in the first race of the second Abu Dhabi meeting (result). But, this weekend, in Monaco, the Brignolais shone in the premier series, during the second GP2 Main Series meeting of the year.

Qualified on Thursday in sixth position, the Frenchman delivered an impeccable first race the next morning. At the wheel of the number 1 ART Grand Prix car, the 2009 winner of the Formula 3 Euro Series was able to pass through his stand quickly, in order to succeed in overtaking Alberto Valerio and securing fourth place in the final, thanks also to the abandonment of Fabio Leimer.

Saturday morning, for the second race of the weekend, Jules Bianchi started in fifth position, according to the principle of the reverse grid for the first eight drivers from the day before. At the end of this race, the driver of the Ferrari Driver Academy managed to climb into third position, securing its first podium in the GP2 Main Series.

« I think the overall result is very positive given the fact that we were discovering the circuit with the GP2 Main Series car and that the conditions were sometimes quite complicated to manage with the rain in qualifying, the traffic and the safety car in race, explains Jules. ART Grand Prix once again prepared a competitive car for me and, for me, it was very important to score points in both races to prepare for the future with peace of mind. The objective has therefore been achieved. »
