Jules Bianchi: 'Fantastic result'

Jules Bianchi adapts very quickly to his new discipline. Titled in the Formula 3 Euro Series last year, the Frenchman is already at the level of the best at the wheel of a GP2 car. For his second meeting in the discipline, during the third round of GP2 Asia Series in Bahrain, Jules Bianchi once again displayed all his speed during a session during which he was able to fight against the leader of the general classification, Davide Valsecchi (iSport).

« It was a really special session, he admits at the end of the qualifications. I do my first lap, I then improve but I make a small mistake. I remain P1 but Davide (Valsecchi) improves a little. I'm retaking P2. My engineer says to me, “OK, last lap, you’re second.” I attack hard in the first corner and lock the wheels. I ask to do another lap and I manage to improve my time to take pole. »

“Rookie” in GP2, Jules Bianchi shows that his talent compensates for his relative lack of experience in order to compete with the best. But the Brignolais does not want to get excited and is already thinking about the rest of the weekend. “ Being on pole for my second GP2 race is an absolutely fantastic result for me. But the most important thing is to be good tomorrow because it promises to be difficult: Davide is very fast. So I will try to do my best by getting a good start, especially since the last time, in Abu Dhabi, it wasn't great. »

After two weekends in Abu Dhabi, the GP2 Asia Series returned to the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain. A circuit on which the Frenchman needed to build his bearings. “ It?s not easy to find the landmarks on this circuit. In the first two corners, it's okay, but on the rest of the circuit, it?s difficult to find the right turning point. I managed to define them in free practice in the morning, so it was easier in qualifying. But it?s not yet perfect. »

This Friday, at 11 a.m. (French time), the Frenchman will start at the head of the main race of the weekend, with ten points up for grabs in the event of victory.
