Jüri Vips continues with DAMS in Sochi

Replacing Sean Gelael, injured in his back in Spain, at DAMS, Jury Vips comes off a successful weekend in the FIA F2 at Mugello with the first podium of his career in the category, with a third place taken in Sunday's sprint race.

The protégé of Red Bull will continue his freelance work within the team led by François Sicard during the next round of the championship in Sochi (September 25-27), Gelael still remaining convalescent.

“This result allows me to thank DAMS for their trust, comments Vips. We have now sorted out all the little details that slowed us down at Spa and Monza while I was discovering the car and the championship and I was not on the pace in free practice and qualifying.

I am now well settled in the car which is competitive and we will try not to make the slightest mistake next weekend. It’s great to be able to continue with DAMS in Sochi and I hope we will fight for victory. »

A continuation of the collaboration which will, however, prevent Vips from competing in the second round of the Japanese Super Formula, he who was expected at the start with Team Mugen.
