The Aeroscreen being tested in Indianapolis

After the choice of IndyCar Series of retaining the solution Aeroscreen, developed by Red Bull Advanced Technologies, several prototypes saw the light of day before arriving at the version seen today in testing on the Indianapolis oval.

Scott Dixon, driver of Chip Ganassi Racing – Honda, and Will Power, resident of Team Penske – Chevrolet, were requisitioned for the occasion, to give feedback on this element.

The Aeroscreen is made up of a polycarbonate windshield including an interior anti-reflective coating, an anti-fog device thanks to an integrated heating element and tear-offs. The main structure is made of titanium.

This device will be mandatory in 2020, and follows the AFP system, placed downstream of the cockpit towards the front wing, and intended to divert debris potentially directed towards the pilot.
