The Rome E-Prix gets a makeover

A few days after the update of the 2020/2021 season calendar, Formula E has published the first drawings of the new layout of the Rome E-Prix.

This new version of the Roman route is almost 500 meters longer (3.385 compared to 2.860 previously) and has fewer turns. There are only 19 left compared to 21 for the previous route.

The start of the Rome E-Prix will be in front of the Palace of Civilization and Work and the drivers will visit historic places in the Roman city such as the Congress Palace and Marconi Square.

« As always, we created a real challenge – and in my opinion, one of our finest creations so far », explains Frédéric Espinos, sporting director of Formula E.

« The new version is fantastic, rejoices Lucas di Grassi. It has longer and faster straights, and offers more overtaking opportunities. I'm confident the fans will love it. I can't wait to run there ».

The Rome E-Prix is scheduled for April 10. In the meantime, this new version of the route is still subject to FIA approval.
